The local government reshaped entire boulevards to integrate the venue into the city’s southern expansion. Renovations for 1998 and again in 2014 transformed both the architecture and the surrounding district. The new sweeping roof changed Marseille’s skyline and created an urban focal point visible from the hills. Bars, shops, and cafés grew along Avenue Michelet, turning the area into a cultural and social gathering zone. The Vélodrome is Marseille’s echo chamber: wild, loud, alive. A stadium ruled by the chant “Aux Armes.”
